Earlier today the Department of Sport announced a record allocation of Sports Equipment funding for Hockey.
A total of €869,785 has been allocated to clubs, provinces and Hockey Ireland with Leinster Hockey receiving €22,069 to support provincial development and nineteen clubs within the province set to receive €447,903 for equipment.
Following the announcement, Leinster Hockey Chair David Curran expressed his delight at the level of funding awarded to hockey adding that "it was fantastic to see so many clubs within Leinster benefiting from the Sports Capital (equipment) Grants which will enable these clubs to grow and develop in their localities. Following the recent success of our national squads and in particular the Irish Women at the Tokyo Olympics, we hope to get more people involved in the sport at all levels and there are so many opportunities for people of all abilities to participate”.
On behalf of the Board David “congratulated all the clubs who have received funding and thanked Ministers Catherine Martin TD, Jack Chambers TD and the Department of Sport for their support of hockey”.
Note: It is expected that the Capital Grants (for pitches) will be announced in the Autumn.
